Letterpress Workers (LPW) was established in 2012 by Officina Tipografica Novepunti. LPW is a short-term collaborative artist residency where letterpress workers from Europe and the Americas work together to share knowledge, cultural approaches, and ways of thinking (not only about letterpress).
What do we mean by letterpress worker? Printers, typographers, graphic designers, calligraphers, stone carvers, educators in these areas and artists of all kinds that share a love of letters, type, ink, and experimentation.
Our goal is to create an enduring physical network of people. LPW is an inclusive community that increases in number year by year. Not everyone comes to every edition, and each year a few spots in the residency are saved for newcomers, by invitation only. This way strong connections are built upon while fresh perspectives are guaranteed in our far-flung, tight-knit community of workers.
An archive of the prints made during the LPW events is held at the Museum für Druckkunst Leipzig.
